Mud cloth is traditionally from West Africa and is made by weaving cotton into strips which are then dyed with local natural materials. Mud is painted on to make a pattern which then protects the cotton from further colour treatment, a bit like tie dye. The finished strips are sun dried and then hand sewn together to make the fabric for the front of the cushions
