Exquisite, storied piece from the Qajar Dynasty. Hand painted intricate figures and florals on lacquered wood. Featuring 2 doors that open to reveal a mirror. Reverse of mirror is beautifully decorated as well. As per the photos.

Please note there are losses in the paint and lacquer and the mirror bears its age with black foxing, as depicted. In our minds, none of these elements detract from the mirror’s beauty or history, rather they enhance it.

Dimensions Approx 48cm high x 36 cm wide

Back Story

Mirrors are gifted in Persian weddings as reflective of light and clarity of mind and hope of the couple’s future life together. Thought to keep the couple true and genuine, a mirror is often brought into the home once they are married to sit in a place of noticeable display. In this mirror, their unity is confirmed and reflected for the world to see. This mirror is also often the first place that the groom sees his bride.

How bloody beautiful and romantic!!

Gift Idea - Need we say more, what an exquisite and original gift to give as a wedding or anniversary present. Traditionally a 5-year wedding anniversary gift is wood.  15th year anniversary is glass. But please interpret as you desire. Aka – hint hint hubby – 36th anniversary might just be a Persian wedding mirror!!!

Disclaimer - All of our vintage pieces are in good working condition (unless noted otherwise) and show patina consistent with age, which adds to their beauty and character and is not considered a defect.
