Antique Chinoiserie Lacquer Box

From the late 1800’s/ early 1900’s, this beautiful old piece might have been used originally as a sewing box. The cover is decorated with figures in court garden scenes within floral spray borders. The sides are similarly decorated within shaped cartouches, with black lacquer interior and lower pull-out drawer and diamond shaped escutcheon. There are losses to the lacquer and gilding throughout, giving it a certain aged patina, so please see the pictures for a visual description.
