This rare antique classic silver urn lamp by renowned British designers Hinks and Sons exudes a refined elegance with its beautiful lines and pleated silk shade. 
At some stage over its long life it has been ingeniously converted from an oil burning lamp to electricity and the cord, whilst not visible from the front, is attached at the back of the urn lid, which comes off the base as pictured. James Hinks & Son (later Hinks & Sons) were renowned Birmingham, England-based manufacturers of high-quality oil lamps, active from before 1865. Known for patented burners, including the Duplex and "No. 1 Hinks" triplet burners, they produced prestigious Victorian-era lamps featuring brass, cut crystal and silver, often marked "Hinks & Son Patent"
